FIELD RESEARCH ASSISTANT needed 18 September 2017 through 26 January 2018 to assist with field work at the Avon Park Air Force Range in south‑central Florida. The position is part of Archbold Biological Station’s Avian Ecology Program under the direction of Dr. Reed Bowman.   Primary activities associated with this position focus on population monitoring and management of endangered Red-cockaded Woodpeckers (RCW) and Florida Scrub-Jays (FSJ). RCW duties comprise the majority of the work and include: population monitoring of color-banded birds, cavity tree maintenance (involves tree climbing using sectional ladders up to 30 feet high), assisting in artificial cavity installation, assisting in translocation, and data entry.
