Greenspace Ecological Solutions are currently seeking an Assistant Ecologist / Ecologist.

The Role:

We are currently seeking an ecological consultant with a forward-thinking attitude. Dependent on experience, the role would include;

·         Co-ordinating and conducting habitat and protected species surveys

·         Acting as ECoW

·         Producing technical reports, desk studies, method statements, mitigation strategies, EPSM Licences, EcIA and BREEAM assessments

·         Liaising with clients, LPA, NE and other third parties

·         Project management and assisting the company with survey scheduling

Essential Skills & Experience:

•         A BSc or an MSc in a relevant subject

•         A minimum of two years’ experience of working within ecological consultancy

•         Experience with assisting in, co-ordinating and conducting a range of habitat and protected species surveys

•         Experience in the production of ecological reports and desk studies

•         Experience of understanding, identifying and resolving ecological issues

•         Have a clear and concise writing style

•         Be commercially aware and highly organised

•         Experience of project management and client liaison

•         Experience of communicating effectively with clients, third parties (NE, LPAs) and colleagues

•         Some working knowledge of the planning system and UK / EU wildlife legislation

Desirable Skills & Experience:

•         At least one Natural England EPS licence

•         CIEEM membership (or eligible if not currently held)

•         CSCS (ecology) card holder

•         Working experience in the production of technical reports, method statements, management plans, EcIA, EPSM Licence applications and BREEAM assessments

•         Have Experience in electronic mapping software such as CAD, ArcGIS, QGIS

•         Have experience in sonogramme analysis

•         Good presentation skills

We a looking for an individual with a pro-active approach to learning. Candidates must have a flexible approach to working, however, we run a TOIL Scheme to help support our ecologists throughout the busy survey season.

All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK/European Economic Area, have a full UK driving licence and access to a car you can use for work. Candidates must live within commuting distance of our office or be willing to re-locate.
