Position Summary: Donal C. O’Brien Sanctuary and Audubon Center at Pine Island, on the Outer Banks in Northeast North Carolina, is a 2,600 acre sanctuary of diverse coastal habitats including a 60 acre education and research campus centered on a Historic 1913 duck hunting lodge.  Public programs at the Center work to engage adults and families in environmental education and bird conservation, through nature-based programs, conservation action, and community engagement.  These programs are outdoor-based, hands-on experiences that provide:
  • Education in both indoor and outdoor settings;
  • Education, engagement, and stewardship opportunities that intentionally guide participants to contribute to conservation outcomes of Audubon’s Atlantic Flyway conservation
