The Advocacy Officer’s primary responsibilities will be to:
Assist the Policy & Advocacy Programme Manager
with the development of policy to improve the legal
protection of IBAs and KBAs in South Africa.
Manage the general casework system for BLSA.
Coordinate BLSA’s participation in development
applications which threaten IBAs and KBAs.
Maintain databases, including GIS databases, for
development applications.
Commission and coordinate specialist studies where
and when necessary.
The inherent requirements for this position are:
BSc Hons (preferably MSc) in environmental
management, environmental science, geography or
related degree.
Proven good working knowledge of Geographic
Information Systems.
Fluency in written and spoken English
