Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to deliver a short, but exciting project, on a high profile nature reserve; Hengistbury Head. “A Future for Wildlife”, targets people from deprived communities and aims to inspire and engage with them, using wildlife-related activities.

Funded by a host of organisations, the successful applicant will be responsible for leading activities for groups of up to 15 children from identified schools, as well as residents from a local hostel. You will need to be able to work in partnership with other contributing organisations, including the Dorset Wildlife Trust and Sharkstuff, as well as an MSc student who will be carrying out studies to judge the impact on the attendees.

This role would suit a highly motivated person who can work alone or as part of a team. We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm for wildlife and a passion for working with people from different backgrounds. You will need to have a basic knowledge of British wildlife across a range of habitats and some experience assisting with or leading activities, you will also need experience in wildlife surveying techniques. You will also be required to write a report towards the end of the contract, evaluating the outcomes of the project.

This exciting role would suit a candidate from a range of backgrounds, including recent graduates.

The post holder is expected to start on the 24th July and run for a fixed term of 12 weeks, ending on the 17th September.
