The intern will travel by boat daily to undeveloped barrier islands, seaside marshes and remote islands and marshes in the Chesapeake Bay with a staff member to collect data and monitor breeding populations of federally threatened piping plovers, state threatened Wilson’s plovers, American oystercatchers and colonial nesting waterbirds. Applicant must be comfortable working on a boat and walking up to 10 miles per day. Duties will include plover, oystercatcher, tern, black skimmer and wading bird surveys including nest searches, behavioral observations, nest/brood monitoring, predator track monitoring, data entry and public outreach.
