Overview

Forest & Bird is a voice for New Zealand wildlife and wild places, and has been for over 90 years. We are an independent society that both campaigns for the protection of our natural history and co-ordinates community-based restoration projects. We need a communications person to ensure that our voice for nature is being heard. We are seeking a Communications Officer to help us communicate more effectively within our organisation, and to support our external communications.

You will lead our internal communications yet also support our comms officers in the external comms space. Working within our Marketing & Communications team, you will network with other key teams, with our Board and with our volunteer branch network in order to shine some light on all the aspects of this great organisation.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working in the communications area.
  • Some internal comms experience (but this is not a requirement).
  • A proven track record of networking and writing for the media.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or related professional journalistic, public relations or communications experience.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and multi-task as part of a flexible team.
  • Positive upbeat interpersonal skills to meet with the public at events and work with volunteers at our projects.
  • An understanding and knowledge of conservation and related issues.

Forest & Bird gives you the chance to work for New Zealand’s nature.
