Overview

Forest & Bird is a voice for New Zealand wildlife and wild places, and has been for over 90 years. We are an independent society that both campaigns for the protection of our natural history and co-ordinates community-based restoration projects. We need a communications person to ensure that our voice for nature is being heard. We are seeking a part-time Communications Officer for our Auckland Office to help us communicate our conservation activities and projects in the Auckland Region more effectively.

You will engage with Forest & Bird volunteer branch committees and project co-ordinators, and help them promote their projects locally, and ensure that their projects or campaigns receive national office attention. Conversely you will also inform and activate the Auckland branches about national campaigns.

This position is part of our Wellington-based Marketing & Communications team. As part of that team this position will also provide support for national campaigns and events.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Several years experience working in the communications area.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • A proven track record of networking and writing for the media.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or related professional journalistic, public relations or communications experience.

Forest & Bird gives you the chance to work for New Zealand’s nature.
