A Countryside Ranger is required to carry out practical habitat management and estate work on a 180 acre estate run on organic principles in the South Hams of Devon. The primary goal of the estate is the promotion of biodiversity within a farmed landscape. The estate comprises permanent grassland including species-rich unimproved fields, arable land, woods, wetlands including streams, ponds and marsh areas, old ruins, and miles of Devon banks and hedgerows. The land is grazed by 40 cattle - Aberdeen Angus and Devon Ruby Red Cattle, and 280 rare breed sheep and three lovely goats to assist in scrub control. Occasional we have pigs for woodland management.
