PROJECT​ ​SUMMARY:​ ​Fauna in Focus is a brand new environmental education and public awareness project based in Siem Reap, Cambodia, not far from the iconic temples of Angkor Wat. Our mission is to improve knowledge of and attitudes towards wildlife, raise support for conservation and inspire a love of nature across Cambodia. To achieve our goal, Fauna in Focus designs nature discovery and environmental education programs for key audiences in the historic region of Angkor, and media-based resources for public awareness and outreach on a wider scale.

POSITION:​ ​Grants & Fundraising Officer

REPORTS​ ​TO:​ Project Director

MAIN​ ​OBJECTIVE​: Secure a sustainable project income by identifying funding opportunities, soliciting donations and project contributions, developing sponsorship opportunities, writing and securing project grants and implementing fundraising strategies for long-term project sustainability.

FUNDRAISING​ ​TARGET:​ ​First year fundraising targets are set at $60,000​ ​-​ ​$100,000​ ​USD​, with long term goals of $1​ ​to​ ​$5​ ​million​ ​USD​ for the development of a new Nature Discovery Center with associated environmental education and wildlife media programs over a 5-10 year period.

DURATION:​ ​12​ ​months​ beginning Jan​ ​1st,​ ​2018.

JOB​ ​DESCRIPTION:​ ​Fauna in Focus is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the role of Grants & Fundraising Officer. This is a full-time position based at our headquarters in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Travel to fundraising meetings or other project activities within Cambodia may be required. The Grants & Fundraising Officer will work alongside a small team of 3 to 5 dedicated local and international staff and volunteers in a highly flexible, growing and friendly work environment.

JOB​ ​BENEFITS: ● The opportunity to take part in the development of an exciting startup that is pushing the bounds of wildlife conservation and education. ● Gain valuable experience working in Southeast Asia in a challenging work environment. ● Starting​ ​salary​ ​is​ ​$1,200​ ​USD​ ​per​ ​month.​ (Cost of living expenses in Cambodia are roughly $300 – $600 per month depending on lifestyle). This salary​ ​may​ ​be​ ​increased​ ​up​ ​to​ ​$2,500​ ​per​ ​month​ if projected budgets are successfully met. ● A reasonable​ ​commissions​ ​of​ ​5-10%​ will be provided based on level of gifts or grants secured. Details to be discussed during the interview. ● 30​ ​paid​ ​annual​ ​leave​ and local holidays, and 10​ ​paid​ ​sick​ ​days​ per year are provided. ● As a small startup only local staff are provided with health care. International candidates must provide​ ​proof​ ​of​ ​travelers​ ​or​ ​expatriate​ ​insurance​ that includes emergency evacuation. ● All work-related travel costs will be covered by the project. ● 1​ ​international​ ​return​ ​or​ ​round​ ​trip​ ​flight​ will be provided by the project. ● All Visa​ ​related​ ​costs​ ​will​ ​be​ ​reimbursed​ ​by the project.

KEY​ ​RESPONSIBILITIES:

Basic: ● Become familiar with the Fauna in Focus project, including our master plan and projected budgets. ● Represent the project and promote our services and values at public events and meetings. ● Assist with project administrative and financial duties. ● Assist with special events as needed by the project. undraising: ● Design and implement a comprehensive, scalable fundraising strategy for current and future needs. ● Build and cultivate a diverse and sustainable funding base for Fauna in Focus ● Identify and maintain relationships with donors and manage a donor information database. ● Create and implement major gifts and sponsorship programs. ● Develop associated materials to support gift cultivation. ● Identify and pursue new sources of local or international corporate or foundation funding.

Grants: ● Research and write grants to aid in the development and expansion of project infrastructure, staffing, environmental education or media-based awareness campaigns. ● Provide timely reporting and ensure compliance of all grant required documentation and follow-up.

Events: ● Design and organize multiple fundraising events to support various projects. ● Promote fundraising events to the local and international business community. ● Provide support to event hosts, sponsors and partners.

Marketing: ● Develop a clear project marketing strategy. ● Prepare copy for press releases and media alerts when necessary. ● Develop and maintain media contacts with regional or international media outlets. Contribute when necessary to social media communication and media productions. ● Assist in the development of marketing materials as required.

CANDIDATE​ ​REQUIREMENTS: ● B.A./B.S. with with a concentration in fundraising, business, marketing or project management. ● 3–5 years of professional experience required in project development, with a proven track record of successful fundraising and grant writing. ● Candidates must be willing to work as part of a small team on a startup project in a highly flexible and ever-changing working environment. ● Candidates with experience in early project development or fundraising in the education, environment or NGO sector are highly prefered. ● Candidates with a network of established fundraising channels will be given priority. ● The candidate must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work well with local and foreign staff and volunteers from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience. ● Must have the ability to inspire, train, motivate, challenge, and supervise other staff or volunteers. ● The candidate should be confident in public speaking and must have excellent writing proficiency. ● Candidates must be self-motivated and confident, be able to work without direct supervision, speak on behalf of the project and promote the values and principles of Fauna in Focus. ● Candidates should have an interest in nature, wildlife or education, and should be prepared to educate themselves about wildlife and conservation in Cambodia. ● Candidates must be proficient with Office and Google’s cloud-based products, CRM software, and are expected to be highly computer savvy. Proficiency in Adobe creative design software is highly advantageous. ● Fluency in English is required. Willingness to learn Khmer is advantageous, but not required. ● Candidates must provide their own laptop computer.
