We are seeking an enthusiastic and hard-working field assistant to work with hummingbirds at La Selva Biological Station, Costa Rica. The study is part of a broader project on the cognitive abilities of hummingbirds. The position entails at least one month of work during May-August 2015. The primary role will be to assist on mist-netting/handling of birds as well as obtaining video recording of birds behaviour. The assistant will gain experience in banding techniques for hummingbirds and field experience in tropical biology and behavioral research. Work will begin at 5:00 am and end between 2 and 4 pm, six days/week. The assistant will be part of a 3 person field crew and will also have the opportunity to participate in further stages of research including data analysis and interpretation.
