Post background The Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) is the statutory adviser to Government on UK and international nature conservation. One of JNCC’s key roles is provision of evidence on biodiversity and ecosystems, and the application of this evidence to assessing, valuing, and managing natural resources/capital assets.  A key part of our evidence provision comes from developing techniques for applying satellite Earth Observations, in combination with other data sources, to quantifying habitats, and detecting change in their management, condition and the pressures affecting them, and to map ecosystem services.   An earth observation specialist is needed to help JNCC deploy habitat mapping methods as part of ecosystem service mapping work, aiding countries within
