The Zoox Experience Programme

The programme consists of a 9 week placement, starting with 2 weeks training at Zoox HQ in the Philippines involving our unique marine conservation modules. This is followed 7 seven weeks ‘on the job’ experience in one of the project locations with the Green Fins initiative, a programme of the United Nations Environment Programme.

You will also be involved in managing your own personal and tailored conservation project that will enable you to develop specific skills or experiences you want to develop for your future career path.  Throughout the placement, you will undergo Professional Development culminating in a one-to-one feedback session helping you identify your next steps. This focus on the professional development of each volunteers makes Zoox unrivalled globally.

Who is the programme for?

This is ideal for anyone who is passionate about a future career in the marine sciences and conservation. The placements are ideal for anyone, particularly with a degree in Marine Science, but are entirely suitable for those with no degree, experience with the diving or tourism industry or simply are passionate about marine conservation.

Our aim is to get you employed in this competitive sector.  Past volunteers  have managed to move onto working with the IUCN, national governments, schools, accepted placements at University, international NGO’s, internships, dive centres and many others.

What’s involved?

During your placement, you will help to implement Green Fins by working with the diving industry helping them reduce their impact. Project activities vary however they might include;
• Environmental consultations and impact assessments with dive and snorkel centres
• Establishing education and outreach programmes in local communities and schools
• Supporting national and local governments meet international commitments
• Environmental training to non-specialist audiences
• Establishing reef surveys for long-term monitoring
• Sea grass surveys with the aim to helping local government departments
• Beach cleanup events
• Working alongside other NGOs, academic institutions, community groups and charities

Price

There is a set price of £1600 for all placements. We are offering a 15% discount to early bookings. This price includes:

  • 15 day training programme delivering at least 8 unique Zoox Training Modules
  • Close coordination, mentoring and coaching from the Zoox team of dedicated, enthusiastic and professional trainers for 9 weeks
  • Clean, comfortable, shared accommodation and three meals daily for the first two weeks
  • Personal Professional Development Feedback session at placement completion
  • Two skill refresher dives (diving associated with all project work is free)
  • Access to our online library with hundreds of marine conservation scientific papers, videos and more
