Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge is looking for hard-working, dedicated biological interns to assist with the stewardship of the Norwalk Islands and to conduct vegetation surveys to determine if the habitat on these islands is adequate for wading birds. Duties include but are not limited to: controlling and managing vegetation (manually and mechanically), carrying out vegetation surveys, using a GPS device for mapping, conducting bird and bat surveys, operating/maintaining small watercraft and associated vehicles, performing maintenance duties on the islands, managing human disturbance, leading volunteer days, and educating the public.
