The Monterey Bay Aquarium is offering a Postdoctoral Research opportunity to develop and implement population assessment methods to investigate the population ecology and dynamics of northeastern Pacific white sharks. The successful candidate will work with partners within a research consortium to build on nine years of mark-recapture data (photographic identifications) and tagging studies. The fellow will develop and parameterize spatially explicit population models to estimate vital demographic rates and population trend for an apex predator with complex migratory patterns driven by reproduction, ontogeny, and seasonal foraging.
