DURATION: Full time position (5 year fixed term contract)

SALARY SCALE: £42,000 – £53,000 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)

BACKGROUND

TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade monitoring network, works to ensure that trade in wild animals and plants is not a threat to the conservation of nature. We actively monitor and investigate wildlife trade and provide information to diverse audiences worldwide as a basis for effective conservation policies and programmes. TRAFFIC, in partnership with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), has been chosen to lead implementation of theReducing Opportunities for Unlawful Trafficking of Endangered Species’ (ROUTES) initiative over five years. ROUTES, brings together international conservation organizations, the transportation and logistics industry, donors and government agencies in an innovative partnership to disrupt wildlife trafficking by reducing the use of legal transportation supply chains.

DUTIES

TRAFFIC requires a Project Leader to direct, administer and coordinate the ROUTES project whilst sustaining and building partnerships. The role will be responsible for providing technical, administrative and inspirational leadership for this work. They will be responsible for convening and facilitating meetings, managing staff, sub-agreements, reporting, work plans and budgets under rigorous project management systems.

REQUIREMENTS

The role holder needs to demonstrate significant/relevant work experience in this field and have excellent skills in programme/financial management, planning and project implementation. They need to have good interpersonal and leadership skills, strong communication and writing skills in English (French, Chinese or Arabic are also desirable). The role will require frequent travel and the ability to work under pressure across multiple time zones.
