Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct and facilitate coral reef ecosystem monitoring, fishery independent assessments, and fishery and habitat research in coral reef environments
  • Designs new approaches for data collection surveys & methodologies for compilation & distribution to provide quality information for fisheries management, conservation & development
  • Conduct fishery research involving population surveys, ecology, and behavior necessary to support NOAA fishery management goals with coral reef fish taxonomy and ecology in the southeastern U.S. and Caribbean
  • Coordinate the collection of biological samples and manages the use of ecological databases for fish stock or ecological assessments
