Overview

Reference number: A2520917

Location: Oxfordshire

We’re seeking a committed and competent project officer for an exciting community project focusing on swifts in Oxford, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Working with the project team, you will deliver the Oxford Swift City project. You will be responsible for leading community engagement activities, and for coordinating, and working with, partners and volunteers, local businesses and planning authorities to create a self-sustaining interest in this iconic priority urban species. You will represent the project, achieving a high profile, securing support and engaging the public and other stakeholders.

We are seeking a determined and enthusiastic person, with experience in meeting and communicating with a wide variety of stakeholders and audiences, particularly the general public. It will be important to have the versatility and ability to work both alone and with the project team and partners, to manage a diverse workload and to meet tight project deadlines. General knowledge of nature, and some knowledge of planning and development is desirable but not essential, as the primary aim of this project to engage and inspire the local community to take action for swifts themselves. A key part of this role will also be promoting and representing the project to the media, so the Project Officer will need to be comfortable giving interviews for television, radio and print.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an influential part in delivering the first Swift City in England. If this challenge motivates you to find out more, we would love to hear from you.
