Overview

The Wessex Stone-curlew Project is looking for Project Assistants to carry out a programme of field work across Wessex, surveying areas of suitable habitat to locate birds, monitor breeding activity and record productivity of the species. The role holder will also carry out species protection work in the form of intervention and advisory work, liaising with landowners over habitat management and potential threats to the birds, to ensure high breeding success and continued population recovery for this charismatic species.

Ideally you are a highly motivated individual with a passion for conservation and a love of the outdoors, with good bird identification skills and field craft, the ability to keep detailed and accurate records, who is happy working alone or as part of a small team, often during anti-social hours, across the beautiful landscape of Wessex.
