Horseback Guide: Experience a unique horseback guide training within either seven or fourteen days on a western ranch in the midst of British Columbia’s untouched nature. After you’ve spent your first ranch days acquiring essential skills like saddling, shoeing, and packing horses you deal with horse training, learn how to care for the animals and become familiar with strategies for living safely in the wilderness. A multi-day-packtrip around Canada’s backcountry serves to test your newly acquired knowledge. At the end of the course you have both the skills and confidence to lead guests on horseback in remote backcountry or to go on your own wilderness adventure.

The advanced horseback guide training is an ideal option for those who would like to take their wilderness adventure to the next level! This one-week course is designed to enlarge your knowledge and skills in horse handling, wilderness guest tours and life in the wilderness. At the end of the course you will be equipped with a greater understanding of the Canadian backcountry and its unique nature. Experience a natural paradise from up close and work your way up to become a real horseback guide!

Hiking Guide: When joining this exciting guide course in the midst of British Columbia’s beautiful nature, you get to know the life and work of a real hiking guide. During your first days on a horse ranch in British Columbia you will acquire skills that are vital for living in the wilderness. After you’ve learned about outdoor navigation, safety rules, pack horse handling, camp management, and guest interaction, you apply your newly-acquired knowledge on a multi-day hiking tour in Canada’s magnificent backcountry. Constantly accompanied by an experienced guide, you will not only deepen your knowledge about the country’s flora and fauna but you will also learn what you’re capable of!

Wildlife Tracking: This educational wilderness course gives you the chance to discover Canada’s fascinating wildlife! Depending on the season you go on daily excursions to track grizzly bears, cougars, wolves, black bears, California Bighorn Sheep, eagles and other bird species. You identify and follow their tracks to experience unique wildlife sightings. Your guide provides you with valuable background information about the country’s rich animal and plant life. Get to know Canada’s wild nature through the eyes of its wild animals and be part of an unforgettable outdoor adventure!

Bushcraft and Survival: As a bushcraft and survival course student you become one with Canada’s wild nature, acquiring essential skills to live and survive in the wilderness. It is your choice whether the focus is on bushcraft – which means living in entire harmony with nature – or on real survival training. When joining the bushcraft course, you become familiar with nature’s rich and valuable resources in a whole new way and learn how to use them. An experienced guide shares his crucial bushcraft skills with you including fire-building techniques, identifying and using medicinal plant species or building a bushcraft shelter. As a survival course participant, you get to experience intense survival training in the midst of Canada’s wild backcountry. You are taught practical skills as well as valuable mental strategies in order to be able to handle unexpected emergency situations in the wilderness. And in case you want to take it to the next level: we also offer an Advanced Bushcraft/Survival course as well as an Extreme Survival course for an even more intense time in the wilderness. Travel to beautiful Canada, go back to the roots and live in the rhythm of nature!

Accommodation

As a participant of the Wildlife Tracking course you will live on a horse and guest ranch in southwest British Columbia. You are either accommodated in shared or a single room with access to your own bathroom. When joining the Horseback Guide and Hiking Guide course you and your fellow outdoor students live together on the ranch grounds for the first few days, sleeping in tents. After a few days you leave for the Canadian wilderness and spend each night in a different wilderness camp, ranging from large canvas tents to rustic mountain huts. Participants of our Bushcraft and Survival courses make their way to British Columbia’s backcountry shortly after their arrival and learn how to build shelters in which they will sleep the following nights. No matter which course you join – you will always be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
