Overview

WWF has an opening through its Youth Volunteer Internship Programme for a 6-month assignment in Programme Monitoring, Evaluation & Development with WWF Solomon Islands, based in Gizo, Western Province.

Main responsibilities
  • Assist with the development of good proposals and concepts.
  • Review project documents with monitoring and strategic plans to coordinate quality of individual  project implementation and multiple projects to programmes.
  • Assist and guide staff wlth monitoring, performance towards objectives and adaptive management.
  • Monitor budgets of projects with spending and ensure quality of deliverables against funds.
  • Coordlnate staff work plans and activities, review progress against project outcomes.
  • Engage with donors to ensure deliverables, donor support needs, communications of reports and stories.
Starting date flexible: approx June 2015
Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
  • University degree in marine conservation, rural development, or natural resource management;
  • Knowledge of marine conservation issues (in Solomon Islands or Pacific an asset) and understanding of project planning;
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in both wrltten and spoken English;
  • Experience in writing technical project concepts and proposals in English;
  • Experience in participatory approaches and in working with government counterpart agencies, NGOs, and community-based organisations and marine resources;
  • Some professional experience in an NGO or civil society organization (within Pacific region an advantage) in marine conservation development and management, and/or policy advocacy;
  • Demonstrated understanding of project cycle management and competency in the use of monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams, particularly in the implementation of cross-country activities and projects, and multi-donor programme;
  • Good interpersonal skills, patience as well as competence in data collection, analysis and management, and communications with teams and partners;
