The Preserve Assistant maintains preserve areas frequented by the visiting public and performs land management activities.  S/he removes exotic species with herbicide application, conducts species monitoring, post-burn fire effects monitoring and oversees efforts and effectiveness to establishing planted trees and native groundcover. S/he may assist in prescribed burns and maintain tools, equipment and land.  The Preserve Assistant will open and close preserve to the visiting public and maintain preserve records using a database or PC. The Preserve Assistant may work independently or lead work teams of staff and/or volunteers to ensure objectives of preserve management plans are completed and coordinate community support.
