Geography master’s degree students are required to maintain “normal progress” toward the degree. “Normal progress” is defined as advancing to classified status by the end of the first year in the program (unless qualifying courses must be completed) and advancing to candidacy by the end of the second year in the program. The department requires that all students finish their degree program by the end of the fifth year in the program. Extensions of this five-year period will be granted only under exceptional circumstances.
