We are so excited to announce that recruitment is open for this year’s winter seasonal rangers! Come and join our friendly team and work on some stunning sites on the South coast.

We’re looking for great communicators with experience in public engagement to help us encourage coastal users to share our shores with wildlife. You’ll work with a diverse range of user groups and stakeholders and be able to expand your skills in face-to-face and online communication, behaviour change science, bird identification and education, to name just a few!

Salary Range: £18,933 – £19,941 per annum (pro rata)
Hours per week: 37
Contract Type: Temporary until 31 March 2022

Please note we have three roles available. The locations for the positions are: 1 based on the Isle of Wight coast and 2 based on the mainland coast (to cover Southampton to West Wittering).

Bird Aware Solent Rangers promote responsible recreation on the Solent coast so that people do not harm the populations of overwintering coastal birds within the three Special Protection Areas (SPAs). We are looking for 3 seasonal rangers to join the team for the upcoming winter season. Seasonal rangers patrol the coast to monitor public use and provide a positive and engaging presence with all user groups, including dog walkers. The post holders must have excellent communication skills and be especially confident in striking up good rapport with people of all ages and backgrounds to secure behaviour change. You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, and West Sussex and it is essential that you have a current drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.

Weekend working will be required.
