We are looking for a Consultant & Marketing Communications Executive who is as passionate about ethical and meaningful travel as we are. If you want to make a positive impact on Africa’s wildlife and people’s lives every working day, then this is your dream job!

African Conservation Experience (ACE) is a growing conservation travel company that offers people the opportunity to support wildlife conservation through inspirational travel. We want to work with those that are as motivated as us to make a difference in everything from the travel industry, to the projects we partner with, to the people who travel with us.

The perfect candidate for this role will be someone who is enthusiastic about wildlife and conservation and wants to encourage travellers to experience our projects. They will also be excited to develop various skills outside of the sales process, such as supporting marketing and operations with a range of tasks. They will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of departments, while always improving their conservation and sales knowledge, becoming an ambassador of ACE. If this is starting to sound like your dream career, then read on…

About The Role

As the interest and need for genuine conservation travel grows, we’re seeing more people than ever reaching out to us from all four corners of the globe. Your main goal will be to grow our international sales by speaking with these people around the world. With life-changing experiences on offer, there’s no cold calling or need to hard sell. Instead, you’ll take a confident and consultative approach, helping each traveller plan, book and realise the ideal trip for their dreams and ambitions.

Working as part of the sales and marketing team, you’ll also provide first-rate after-sales support and assist with a variety of marketing activities, from speaking at live events, engaging on our social media channels, to gathering client testimonials.

Our in-depth training programme will enable you to help travellers plan a trip that perfectly suits their conservation aspirations. It will provide you with our environmental and conservation insights, and give you the confidence to advise and guide prospective clients.

Our conservation knowledge is always evolving, and you will liaise with conservation experts to ensure best practice is always being followed, with regular team meetings and briefings.

Whilst you will be the trusted conservation guide for prospective travellers, there will be the opportunity to develop your role. You may become the face of ACE at events and talks to share conservation and company knowledge, or even a social media advisor to inform and educate animal lovers online to the current issues and opportunities out there. We encourage growth and confidence.

Combining your knowledge of our life-changing projects with the environmental and conservation expertise that you’ll develop here, you’ll excite travellers with in-depth insights into what to expect when travelling, and deliver the assurance of the ACE brand.

About You

Your background

The ideal candidate is either a motivated self-starter with a few years experience of working in a commercial office environment and is looking to build upon their current skills, or someone with previous sales experience that can hit the ground running and receives great satisfaction from client interaction and is now looking to work for an organisation with a purpose.

The successful candidate will show potential in three key areas:

  1. Thriving in a results-driven environment. You are able to demonstrate that you thrive in a customer-focussed environment and can speak confidently to clients, leading them to commit to a trip that is perfect for them.
  2. Self-drive and proactive mentality. As a seasonal business with a relatively small team, it’s important you feel comfortable stepping outside your core role and getting involved with everything from marketing to admin and sharing insights with the wider team.
  3. Passion for conserving the natural world. Whilst you don’t need any specific qualifications in this area, a genuine interest in the natural world is essential to engage in successful conversations with our travellers and community.

About African Conservation Experience

Founded in 1999, we are southern Africa’s original conservation travel and volunteering company. Headquartered in the UK with full-time teams on the ground in The Netherlands and South Africa, we play an active role in supporting genuine wildlife conservation work through organising conservation travel experiences. We do this by embedding ourselves in the region’s conservation community, providing equipment, money and guidance to projects and even pioneering our own where needed.

Our team are not only experienced in travel management but also carry zoological and conservation-related qualifications, providing outstanding personal consultation to our travellers. This conservation-first approach makes us a very different breed to online booking agents and volunteering platforms. It’s also one of the many reasons why thousands of people around the world have enjoyed an unforgettable experience travelling with us.

We are the only organisation of our kind that has been offered membership of ABTA, one of the world’s most recognised quality standards for travel and we financially protect trips for all of our travellers through ABTA or ATOL.
