Program Overview Environmental Defense Fund’s Climate program works to promote ambitious market-based climate policies around the globe with a focus on the top-emitting countries and sectors, as well as those projected to rise the most in the future — including in North America, where we have championed California’s cap-and-trade program and work to increase the ambition of federal policy; in Latin America, where we work to reduce emissions from tropical deforestation; in India, where we promote low-carbon rural development; and at the international level, including in the aviation and shipping sectors and in UN negotiations.
