Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic positive person to join our team at the rescue center to help coordinate and run the volunteer program and assist in the day to day management of the rescue center.

The candidate needs to be flexible, outgoing and independent, over 20 years of age and willing to commit for at least 3 months or more. English is essential and Spanish is a big plus.

Duties would include:

  • Meeting and greeting new volunteers on arrival and giving them a tour of the center
  • Pastoral support for volunteers; make sure the volunteers are happy and help solve problems that pop up (everything from too much rice in the diet to wanting to volunteer with a certain animals at the center)
  • Encourage, organize and sometimes deliver workshops and presentations regarding the enrichment, animal care, rescue techniques and conservation efforts in Costa Rica or globally, at least once a week.
  • Making sure volunteers know and follow their job descriptions, making sure proper protocol is followed to maintain good animal welfare techniques
  • Overseeing the blog; including posting photos and updates weekly in order to increase our online presence to increase donations and visiting volunteers
  • Organize and run social evenings at least once a week consisting of for example a simpler party, a bonfire night, charades, games, pizza in town etc.
  • Assist the Manager with day to day running of the rescue center and care for the animals
  • Get feedback from leaving volunteers, log and discuss it with manager and staff at the rescue center.

Please note that this is a good opportunity for anyone wanting experience of wild animal rescue. You will be a member of staff and expected to act as such. This is an unpaid position with accommodation, food and training provided on site.
