The Avon Gorge and Downs are two of Bristol’s best-loved and important wildlife sites. They are home to rare plants, breeding peregrine falcons, endangered invertebrates and have large areas of meadow and patches of woodland. All of this makes for an exciting and stimulating place to learn about wildlife. The area is looked after by the Avon Gorge & Downs Wildlife Project (a partnership of organisations including: Bristol City Council, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Natural England, The University of Bristol, the Society of Merchant Venturers, the Downs Committee, Bristol Zoological Society, National Trust and Forestry England).
