BCI and our Mission

Bat Conservation International (BCI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending bat extinctions worldwide, seeks a part-time Bat Research Technician to join BCI’s Science Team. BCI is a distributed organization with staff across the world, and this position can live anywhere in the United States.

The Bat Acoustic Technician will join a dynamic organization and a highly progressive team of conservation scientists, reporting to the Acoustic Data Specialist. The Technician will primarily assist with acoustic data processing. The Bat Acoustic Technician must be able to submit accurate data in a timely manner and communicate effectively. Fieldwork opportunities may be available on an as-needed basis if it doesn’t interfere with deadlines and acoustic data processing responsibilities. Based on experience and interest, additional opportunities for fieldwork, acoustic data processing, and involvement in other parts of the scientific process may be available.

BCI is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual, with a learner’s mindset to join our team. An ideal candidate will be an early professional interested in diving into the conservation sector and working with acoustic data processing. This position is designed to offer hands-on learning and growth opportunities within a supportive team environment.

The work schedule is highly flexible and BCI will try to accommodate individual needs, including school or other job duties. While there is no guaranteed number of hours per week and the workload is negotiable, team members must be available for meetings and training during BCI’s ‘core work hours (10am to 3pm) for a minimum of two hours at least once a week. Initially, during the training period, more time may be required during regular business hours, but the role becomes largely independent thereafter.
