Job Description Summary:

The Biodiversity Research & Monitoring (BRM) Intern will support and assist the Biodiversity Research and Monitoring Manager (BRMM) in implementing the biological research and monitoring program in the Eastern Plains Landscape (EPL), Mondulkiri Province, Cambodia. The post holder will help to oversee research work in the field and ensure data collection protocols are followed, he/she will assist in collecting, inputting and verifying data. The post holder will also assist in developing the capacity of the Biodiversity Research and Monitoring team.

This position requires a significant amount of time (up to 70%) to conduct biodiversity surveys and other research. These surveys will primarily focus on key priority fauna such as ungulates, primates, endangered bird species, and carnivores, but research may also involve topics other than wildlife.

The key focus of BRM-EPL in 2020 will be a distance-based line transect survey in Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary (PPWS) and Srepok Wildlife Sanctuary (SWS), an elephant sign survey and satellite collaring, a drone pilot study, and ongoing vulture and ibis research.

The position holder will also assist in administrative tasks, preparing field and/or training reports, and any ad hoc tasks related to the BRM thematic. This position is to start as soon as possible and the duration is approximately 6 months.

Remuneration Packages: The intern will receive food allowance, accommodation allowance, and a contribution towards international travel costs and visa expenses.
