The Avian Ecology Lab at Florida Atlantic University is hiring one experienced technician for a project investigating the capabilities of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) to perform nesting surveys and record ancillary breeding measures of wading bird breeding colonies at Lake Okeechobee in southern Florida. This is a seasonal OPS position (approx. January through June). Duties include:
  • assisting a graduate student in recording reproductive breeding parameters of several wading bird species with sUAS and through ground-based nest transects,
  • conducting monthly aerial surveys of breeding colonies from a fixed-wing aircraft, GIS and G
