The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for an Ocean Modeller (Shelf Seas) to join our Polar Oceans/Shelf Seas Team. The successful candidate will be developing, running and evaluating a range of idealised models of the Antarctic continental shelves. They will evaluate the formation and structure of the Antarctic Slope Front, its role in setting shelf water properties and ice shelf melt rates. The successful candidate will evaluate the model’s ability to explain observations, and interpret the implications for ocean melting of the Antarctic Ice Sheet. This role is part of a pan-European project involving oceanographers and glaciologists in a study of tipping points in the Antarctic climate system.
