Description The diffusivity of the ocean is a key measure for understanding oceanic heat and carbon uptake. It is however difficult to obtain direct measures of it. We have released surface and sub-surface floats in the Southern Ocean in novel configurations designed to optimise the calculation of the eddy diffusivity. We are seeking someone to process the float dataset and associated satellite data to calculate the diffusivity. This will require writing computer code in Matlab, Python or an equivalent language to calculate Lyapunov exponents from the float tracks.
