Background: Munching Caterpillars is Butterfly Conservation’s flagship education project which has run throughout Somerset and Dorset introducing hundreds of children to the fascinating world of butterflies and moths. With funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, existing Munching Caterpillars material will be adapted for Scottish schools to reflect the different species found there, and the Curriculum for Excellence. Through a series of school visits, the project will focus on working with children and educators to grow wildflowers which caterpillars can feed on, and carry out work on school grounds to create more habitats for butterflies and moths.
