The turtle field technician will assist with various species at risk turtle projects in the Muskoka Region, Ontario. The goals of the project are to carry out surveys for at-risk turtles, identify road mortality hotspots, identify and protect nesting sites, and increase public awareness of turtle conservation issues. Tasks and Responsibilities:  Carry out field surveys to document at-risk turtles, including radio telemetry tracking of individuals;  Assist in the handling and notching (marking) of turtles;  Conduct turtle nesting surveys;  Adopting safe work practices (especially with respect to working on or near roads), reporting unsafe conditions immediately and attend all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety.
