Catchment Project Officer – Central

£25,000-30,000 p/a depending on experience

Freshwater Habitats Trust is now recruiting a Catchment Project Officer based in the South Midlands area (Oxon, Bucks, Northants). The post is initially a 1-year full time contract, with the expectation of conversion to a permanent position for suitable applicants.

Freshwater Habitats Trust is a friendly, evidence-based, conservation charity, tackling the freshwater biodiversity crisis through policy, research and innovative practical conservation projects.

We are looking for enthusiastic, experienced, multi-skilled Project Officers who can work within our central team to deliver existing practical habitat creation and natural flood management (NFM) projects in the South Midlands area, including the North Bucks Freshwater Resilience Project and Pitsford Water Friendly Farming. In the role you will see practical habitat creation and NFM works through from their inception to delivery, encompassing landowner engagement, design development, obtaining permissions and supervising contractors. Freshwater ecological knowledge is desirable. Training and expert support will be given to the right candidate. Travel to survey locations will require use of own car.

For the right person this is significant opportunity to develop skills and experience and make a substantial contribution to the conservation of freshwater invertebrates and their habitats, with a particular focus on small waters and the protected species they support.
