PURPOSE OF THE POST UKCEH are looking for sixteen experienced field surveyors to work on large-scale, long-term field studies to assess change in the British Countryside. The role demands a high level of flexibility regarding location as surveyors will be expected to travel throughout Wales and/or wider Great Britain for the duration of the contract. Initial appointments will be from April 2020 for a period up to 5 months.   MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES To identify and record higher plant species and bryophytes in a variety of plots across a range of habitats. To collect soil samples and other environmental data as required. To map landscape features of predetermined one kilometre squares using bespoke GIS and surveying software.
