About the job Summary Many aquatic animals use underwater sound to communicate, forage, and navigate, and these important functions are increasingly threatened by underwater noise pollution. Cefas is highly engaged in this scientific area. We undertake field- and desk-based research on the effects of noise on marine mammals, fish and invertebrates, and provide scientific advice to UK Government and regulators on the management of noise-generating activities (e.g. offshore wind farms, seismic surveys). The purpose of this post is to support the growing noise and bioacoustics portfolio at Cefas and to augment the existing skills base of the Noise and Bioacoustics team.
