About MBNEP

Mobile Bay National Estuary Program is a non-regulatory program of the U.S. EPA and a Dauphin Island Sea Lab division. It is one of 28 nationwide programs working to safeguard and improve the health of some of the nation’s most critical coastal waters. For more than a quarter century, the MBNEP has worked to promote the wise stewardship of Alabama’s estuaries and coast. To achieve this, MBNEP brings together community members, government agencies, businesses, nonprofits, academics, and other key partners to develop and implement a long-term management plan or scientific blueprint (the CCMP) prescribing specific actions to address the challenges of water quality, living resources, and community resilience of Coastal Alabama.
