Overview

This position is supported by a Canada Summer Jobs grant. To qualify you must be:

  1. between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  2. a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
  3. legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

Start Date: May 24
Remuneration: $ 18 hour plus cell phone/internet reimbursement of $60 month
Hours: 28 hours / week for 8 weeks

Sierra Club Canada Foundation is searching for an energetic, detail-oriented person to update our internal communications and electronic sharing procedures at this charitable organization.

Candidate will be required to work from a home office. If travel is required it will be compensated.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist will provide support related to the following:

Improving our internal communications tools including:

  • updating and organizing an online library of documents (content management)
  • supporting committee email forums and
  • creating tutorial documents or slide decks for best practices
  • Interfacing with volunteers and staff to establish their needs and satisfaction with products.

Fundraising assistance – written and verbal. Will include phone calls to supporters.

Administrative assistance for electronic record keeping including some data entry.

Other Duties as needed for functioning of this small non-profit

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English. Ability to speak French an asset
  • Adept in Microsoft Office or MacOS (Word, Excel, or Pages, etc.) programs
  • Experience with online research and logical organization of materials – Library Science or Content Management experience an asset.
