Are you a talented and adaptable people person with a strong countryside and conservation management background who is looking for a new and exciting challenge?

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic conservation professional who appreciates and understands the importance local stakeholders and communities to the management of our green spaces. The main purpose of this role is to supervise and deliver the day to day maintenance and management of countryside sites, parks and green spaces within Bromley. This post requires a full driving licence and will be subject to a DBS check.

As a Conservation & Community Ranger your main responsibilities will include:

  • To assist the Countryside Manager and Conservation & Education Development Manager in overseeing the management of these sites of high conservation value
  • To deliver the service through the management of volunteers and directly employed grounds maintenance staff
  • To ensure that all work conforms to idverdes health and safety policies and procedures
  • To ensure that sites are managed according to their management plan and to produce management plans when required
  • Carry out species surveys as required
  • Support volunteer groups and oversee volunteer work days
  • Represent idverde at stakeholder meetings and events
  • Manage the maintenance of allocated sites including illegal activities such as graffiti and fly tipping
  • Maintain records of site management actions, health and safety, species surveys etc.
  • Deliver training and educational activities to staff, volunteers and members of the public
  • Previous experience of supervising teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences

This role requires a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a strong background in countryside management and volunteer management. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field or a comparable level of experience. Woodland management experience is preferred.
