Global Forest Generation (GFG) is a US based 501(c)3 NGO which develops multi-country, large-scale, native forest restoration projects. GFG partners with local leaders, their organizations, and communities to protect, restore, and manage vital forest ecosystems for their critical role in preserving water, storing carbon, and protecting biodiversity. Our projects support the viability of indigenous cultures and are a refuge for endangered species. GFG’s flagship initiative Accion Andina, started in 2018, seeks to restore and protect one million hectares of high Andean, native forests in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela over the next 25 years. GFG anticipates adding other initiatives in new geographies.

The Conservation Program Officer is a full-time, remote position supervised by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), requiring occasional travel and based either in the US or South America. The Conservation Program Manager’s primary role is to work closely with the staff of Acción Andina to ensure high-quality, enduring conservation is achieved on schedule through excellent planning and project execution, monitoring and evaluation, and problem solving.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Close collaboration with counterparts at Acción Andina to plan and implement multi-year restoration projects.
  2. Oversee GFG’s  conservation agreements, reports and deliverables to ensure partner commitments are met on time and on budget.
  3. Manage GFG’s project quality and impact verification, including advancing monitoring systems and conducting project site visits.

Qualifications and Background:

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about native forest restoration, with a desire for a career in conservation.
  • At least 3 years experience working in conservation.
  • Ability and enthusiasm  to travel to get to know partners and projects.
  • Fluent English speaker with Spanish working professional proficiency. Ideally, prior experience working in South America.
  • Experienced communicator comfortable with new communications technologies and  technical information.
  • Highly collaborative with remote colleagues and international partners.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented with excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Creativity and flexibility to undertake new assignments and identify new opportunities.
