Overview

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (hereafter referred to as the Trust) is looking for a part-time Digital Marketing Officer

This is a part-time (21 hours/week), permanent position which will be partially homebased and partially based from the Trust’s offices in Eastleigh – the exact split between home and office is negotiable.

Aim 3 of our 2019 to 2024 Strategic Plan is to inspire and enable a diverse range of people to take action for bumblebees. The new Digital Marketing Officer will support this aim by:

  • creating, and managing engagement, with digital content promoting the Bumblebee Conservation Trust to a variety of audiences.
  • raising the Bumblebee Conservation Trust’s profile on our social media channels, thereby generating support for the Trust’s vision.
  • Working with the wider Engagement team to manage the content and functionality of the Trust website.

The successful applicant will be skilled in production of digital assets, web editing, and social media engagement. They will have knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and analytical tools, as their role will include a goal of increasing traffic to the Trust website and through our social media channels. The role will also include helping ensure staff and partner organisations, including business supporters, follow brand guidelines.

Main responsibilities:

Digital Media

  • Refresh and update the Trust’s website to ensure it is up to date and aligns with strategic priorities.
  • Play a key role in developing and enhancing the Trust’s social media presence and grow our social media following on all social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram through planning, creating and scheduling multimedia posts.
  • Assist in the delivery and planning of the Trust’s Engagement and Communications plans, including one-off campaigns and calls to action. thereby moving potential followers along the supporter journey.
  • Play a key role in managing Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and analytical tools to increase traffic to the
  • Trust website and via social media channels, to varying audiences.

Brand

  • Help ensure staff and partner organisations follow brand guidelines.
  • Collaboration with business supporters and third parties (ie graphic designers, website developers).
  • Help ensure communications are accurate and in line with Trust values, minimising reputational risk.

General

  • Contribute to the overall outputs of the Trust and carry out duties with due regard to the well- being and safety of others at all times.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the nature of the post as deemed appropriate and by agreement with the Senior Communications Officer.

Person Specification

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of digital marketing and engagement tools, platforms, and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to convey complex information in a clear, creative and engaging way
  •  Able to work effectively as a member of a remote team
  • Well organised and self-motivated
  • Able to plan and prioritise work using own initiative and problem solving abilities to meet tight deadlines
  •  Strong IT skills including video content creation and editing and experience of Hootsuite and WordPress

Desirable criteria

  • Basic bumblebee identification skills
  • Experience in copywriting and multimedia, especially for social media and other digital platforms including websites
  • Experienced in working within brand guidelines
  • Understanding of creating content suitable for varying audiences
  • Experience in use of applications and tools such as MS Office, Teams, Zoom, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Cloud and social media platforms including paid promotion
  • Demonstrable passion for British wildlife and conservation
  • Experience of charity fundraising
