Woodrow is one of Ireland’s fastest growing environmental consultancies based in County Sligo with a great team of staff. The company works throughout Ireland with various clients from private landowners & community groups to regulatory bodies and large-scale developers. MAIN WORK AREAS

Work will be varied and is likely to include the following:

  • Undertaking ecological surveys, likely to include bat, bird & terrestrial mammals.
  • Undertaking habitat and botanical surveys and monitoring;
  • Undertaking and overseeing Ecological Impacts Assessments / Natura Impact Statements to a high standard
  • Undertaking pre-planning assessments / Phase 1 surveys for a variety of projects including quarries, roads, solar farms etc.
  • Input into, and preparation of, Habitat Management and Enhancement Plans for wind farms and other infrastructure projects.
  • Project management, including oversight of ecological surveys and client projects.
  • Assistance with Preparation of Tender documents and project proposals.
  • Assistance with marketing & PR initiatives to new and existing Woodrow clients.
  • Attendance and participation of training programmes as per CPD requirements.

Please note that work may require lone-working, anti-social hours and travelling to survey sites across the island of Ireland. Relevant H&S policies have been adopted by Woodrow to safeguard our employees to the best effect in this regard.

TO FULFIL THIS ROLE WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH: 

  • A good knowledge of environmental legislation applicable to N. Ireland and Republic of Ireland;
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills;
  • Developed ecological survey skills in one or more disciplines;
  • A high level of competence in other ecological areas;
  • Experience of full project management from inception to delivery;
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the consultancy sector;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to use ArcGIS or open source GIS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THIS ROLE WILL BE:

  • Experience working with an environmental consultancy or in the commercial sector;
  • Experience reporting and managing a wide range of projects from small to large scale;
  • A minimum of a degree or equivalent in ecology or a related biological / environmental science discipline, and ideally a Master’s degree;
  • Full, clean diving licence;
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (CIEEM).

  • Courteous & professional manner in dealing with clients, statutory bodies and representatives at all times.
  • Self-Motivated with ability to initiate projects, establish methodologies, set time lines and ensure completion.
  • Meticulous in collation and filing of data as required.
  • Careful Driver.
  • Keen to share good environmental-practice both within the company and externally eg. present papers at conferences.
  • Happy to work within a growing team and flexibility to take on various tasks as required eg. marketing and promotions; making a cuppa in turn!
