Our Ecology Team offer over 20 years of experience in undertaking ecological surveys and assessments in the UK. During this time, we have undertaken numerous projects across the UK and beyond, for both public and private clients. We are engaged on a wide variety of large and interesting projects – including highway and rail schemes, power stations, electrical, gas and water infrastructure, and residential developments – and are working for a broad selection of clients, including HS2, EDF Energy, the Welsh Government, Highways England, National Grid, the Environment Agency, Transport for London, Network Rail, Wrap, The Canals and Rivers Trust, the Ministry of Justice and Homes England.

What we Require?

You will be required to work on an extensive portfolio of ecology schemes for construction and development projects, ensuring we meet the demanding workload. To be considered for the role, we are seeking candidates with the following credentials (though note that for more junior roles, the requirements will be less exacting):

Minimum qualifications:

  • You will hold a relevant Degree, ideally with a further education qualification;
  • Full member of CIEEM (for those applying for Senior Ecologist or above);
  • Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist (for those applying for Associate Technical Director or above);
  • Full driving licence. 

Required experience:

  • Experience in providing the ecology inputs for major schemes (whether surveying, reporting and/or designing mitigation and monitoring);
  • Detailed knowledge of ecological principles, relevant wildlife legislation and ecological impact assessment (EcIA);
  • Experience in writing ecological appraisals, EcIAs and/or Ecology Chapters for Environmental Statements;
  • In-depth knowledge of particular plant or animal groups and appropriate field survey skills; and
  • Ideally hold Survey and/or Development Licences.
