The Species Recovery Programme (SRP) has delivered urgent targeted action to halt and reverse declines of our most threatened and priority species for the past 30 years. Projects funded under the programme have had a hand in recovering numerous charismatic species such as the cirl bunting, dormouse and large blue butterfly as well as supporting some of the more “overlooked” fungi and plant taxa. Our costed evidence base has been key in the justification of how we target our efforts for England’s most threatened species. We have recently had a significant uplift in funding and need to continue to ensure that the projects we fund and deliver are achieving optimum impact for species recovery in England.
