South of San Francisco, travelers are routinely amazed by breathtaking views of ocean promontories and beaches backed by the San Andreas ridges and valleys.  Pacifica is home to some 40,000 residents, yet over half the land is open space and wildlands.  The Pacifica Land Trust (PLT) is a non-profit dedicated to the preservation of the open space, waterways and wildlife corridors of Pacifica and its environs.  Since 1992 the PLT was one of the first land trusts to partner in projects to adapt to sea level rise.  The PLT has facilitated the transfer of rare coastal land to both state and federal parks and has overseen stewardship of public lands, notably Pedro Point Headlands.  Our changing world requires a combination of traditional land preservation and bold new strategies to further
