Overview

Experience an unforgettable educational adventure in the midst of Botswana’s breathtaking Okavango Delta and become a certified FGASA or BQA Field Guide within four weeks.

Details

Due to its stunning wildlife and different ecosystems the biggest inland delta in world, the Okavango Delta, happens to be the perfect place for your basic ranger training. As a Field Guide student you’ll broaden your knowledge during theoretical and practical units, acquiring essential basics in ecology, geology, zoology, climate and weather as well as important skills in bush navigation, tracking, rifle handling and guiding methods (by foot, by boat, in the mokoro and of course in an all-terrain vehicle). Instructed by experienced and highly skilled guides you will become familiar with the secrets of Southern Africa’s flora and fauna during theoretical lessons and daily game walks and game drives. The course is modular – this means you can join for two or four weeks; at a time or in parts.

Participants who joined the course for personal enrichment will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course. Those who would like to improve their skills on a professional level can gain three official qualifications as part of a final exam.

Take part in an incomparable outdoor adventure, gain precious nature knowledge and important field guide skills and immerse yourself into the unspoiled nature of the fascinating Okavango Delta!

Accommodation

You and the other course student will live in Kwapa training camp, located in the Southern Okavango Delta near Kwapa River. You will sleep in high wall wilderness style stent providing a bed, a bed table and a LED-light. The tents are connected to an ensuite “wilderness” bathroom with a typical “bush toilet” and a bucket shower. On the little verandah you can find a stand-basin and a relaxing chair. You will be served three daily meals, and also receive coffee and tea throughout the day. The tap water has drinking water quality and you can purchase additional drinks in the camp.
