In this internship, you will learn vegetation and wildlife habitat restoration practices in a riparian setting: erosion control, reforestation, the use of genetically-local native species, removal of invasive species, herbivory protection, revegetation of disturbed areas, shading streams, and habitat improvement for targeted species. We work in rough, uneven terrain with tall grass, yellow jackets and other insects, and occasional snakes. Adequate field clothing (e.g. long pants, hat, work/rubber boots, etc.) is essential. This is an ideal position for someone with a flexible schedule who is looking for part-time, physically-demanding environmental work that is 100% outside.
