The Fire Ecologist is a key technical support and driver, for the planning and delivery of the Yarra Ranges Council ecological burning and Firesticks program. Working within the Bushland team, the Fire Ecologist will collaborate strongly with the Firesticks Officer and Bushland team members to undertake required monitoring, ecological assessments, reporting, and stakeholder communication to facilitate ecologically sound burning practices. Information and advice provided by this role will improve the ecological outcome of council planned burns and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and Acts.
